Adaption Layer

Innovative API Solutions for Network as a Service

We support telcos in their transition from a capital-intensive and technology-focused service delivery to an efficient model based on the needs of end customers. In addition to advising on new business models, we help decouple traditional legacy software systems and migrate existing telco OSS/BSS to a modern, standardized and cost-efficient next-generation telco architecture.

Our experts manage extensive programs in the field of network migration. Starting with the validation of the migration concept, through criteria determination and capacity assessment to documentation, the project management framework includes the elementary building blocks of the E2E analysis of various migration streams.

In the process, adaptation layers support the step-by-step migration to modern solutions. As software or middleware components, they facilitate integration and interoperability between different systems, applications or protocols. In the telecommunications sector, this includes connecting old, proprietary systems with new, standardized systems without having to make extensive changes to the existing systems.

This reduces the complexity of the IT landscape and enables a more flexible and scalable IT architecture, which in turn can react more quickly to new market requirements.

To the Point

An outstanding example of the dynamics in the telecommunications market is Telefónica Deutschland's Open Gateway project, an initiative that aims to revolutionise access to telecommunications services through open interfaces (APIs). A progressive project in which Tallence is playing a key role in the development and implementation of the required APIs.

Another reference in the area of the Tallence Telco Suite in the context of API solutions is our partnership with MATRIXX, a software telecoms company. Tallence supports telecoms companies in the migration to new converged billing systems.

Both examples demonstrate that modernised, configurable solutions and automated processes offer significant benefits in increasing efficiency and reducing costs, leading to a faster time to market and a much more comprehensive range of telecommunications services.

Open Gateway

The Open Gateway of the British telecommunications company GSMA pursues the vision of making the telecommunications infrastructure accessible and interoperable through the introduction of globally standardized interfaces. The aim is to provide developers and cloud providers with uniform access to telecommunications services, regardless of the underlying infrastructure. By working with 21 network operators worldwide, including leading companies such as Deutsche Telekom, Orange, Swisscom, Telefónica and Vodafone, as well as technology giants such as Microsoft, Google and AWS, the aim is to create a platform that unites the industry and promotes innovation. The interfaces, which are being developed as part of the Camara project at the Linux Foundation, enable deeper integration and use of telecommunications services such as localization, authentication and payment functions.

  • The beginning of a new era: The GSMA aims to make the last major infrastructure - the networks of telecommunications providers - accessible to developers via code. According to GSMA Chairman and Telefónica CEO José María Álvarez-Pallete, this marks the beginning of a new era characterized by the intersection of telecommunications, computing, artificial intelligence and Web3.
  • Open standardized ecosystem: The Open Gateway is designed to enable simplified integration and use of complex network functions and thus support the provision of new services and capabilities. The publication of APIs under the open Apache 2.0 license is intended to promote collaboration and innovation by creating an open and standardized ecosystem.
  • New capabilities: In addition to harmonizing access to network services, the platform will enable cloud providers to add new capabilities to networks. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella emphasized in his video message that this will profoundly change the way services are designed and delivered. The first APIs include functions such as device status queries, number verification, edge cloud functions, billing by the network operator and device location. Further interfaces are to follow in the course of the year.
  • More than technology: The GSMA emphasizes that the Open Gateway will not only promote technological advances, but also closer collaboration between telecommunications providers and the tech community. The aim is to expand the capabilities of networks and accelerate the delivery of innovative services to ultimately enable better and more efficient use of the telecommunications infrastructure.
